Gratitude in The Rose Reading Room

One of the first courses I took in medical school was histology, where we had to memorize the microscopic structure of every cell in the body. I didn’t do well on the first test, mostly because I resented the picky nature of the material.

Fog covered much of the river this fall morning. The forecast was for a sunny day, so I knew the fog would lift soon.

It’s fall in New England, and the yellow, orange, and red leaves shine, giving the region unique beauty.  

It rained during the night, and I had left my car’s trunk open since yesterday evening.
