Appreciating Our Unique Gifts

It’s fall in New England, and the yellow, orange, and red leaves give the season unique beauty. While I can be particularly attracted to the bright reds and yellows, with reflection, I see that the whole scene wouldn’t exist without the dark tree trunks, gray rocks, and brown leaves on the forest floor. All are necessary for the overall beauty.

Sometimes, we think we don't shine as brightly as others, and this can shake our confidence. However, reflection shows that each element plays a vital role. Where the glorious bright leaves will fall, the solid rocks can provide the foundation for walls, and the enduring tree trunks can create needed shelter.

Do you pause to appreciate your unique strengths? What helps you move past comparing yourself to others?

Send your thoughts to ron@biggerhearted.com with fall leaves on the subject line.
